NEU-W492 is a precision four-band EQ inspired by a legendary German console module that defined the sound of European studios in the 1980s. With its transparent tone, musical curves, and unmistakably refined analog character, this EQ is built to deliver surgical precision and effortless musicality in equal measure.

Description

The NEU-W492 combines clean, precise frequency control with a natural and open sound. Its four fully parametric bands provide overlapping frequency ranges, making it suitable for both subtle shaping and heavy tone sculpting. Designed to add clarity without harshness and weight without muddiness, this EQ can easily handle any task — from broad tone balancing to intricate mastering adjustments.

Our recreation of this iconic module captures its distinctive “hi-fi” character. Every inductor, capacitor, and amplifier stage has been modeled to reproduce the effortless, glassy top-end and full low-frequency definition that made the original a studio favorite for decades.

History

Developed in the late 1970s and quickly adopted by major European broadcast and recording studios, the hardware module that inspired NEU-W492 became renowned for its precision and neutrality.
